Fix Sliding Screen Door

The sliding door actually adopts a Japanese door model that carries the concept of maximizing space. This type of door does not require frames for its constituent construction so it is practical and easy to install. But there are some obstacles that make the sliding doors can be damaged. Dust or dirt that accumulates on the rail at the bottom or top of the sliding door is usually a major problem. This dirt buildup can interfere with the sliding screen door movement. Like traditional doors, sliding doors can sometimes be difficult to open or jam when shifted. You must know first what causes your sliding screen door to be difficult to open or closed so that the problem on the sliding door does not get worse and later it cannot be used again. If there is a problem with the rail or sliding screen door, then follow some simple instructions from our fix sliding screen door.

  • Clean the railings and door wheels

If the sliding screen door starts hard to open and close, there is usually a problem in the railing. It could be because of dirty railing or there is a problem on the wheels. Lift the door slightly with a screwdriver. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw that hooks the door with railing. Lift the door slightly up then clean the railing and wheels with a small brush. If you find the wheels are crusty then use a dishwashing solution. To prevent the occurrence of the crust, perform routine cleaning on the door railing at least once a month. However, if you have difficulty to lift the sliding door, you may need to remove the door. Ask for help from friends or artisans. Make sure you understand how to remove and install the sliding screen door properly.

  • Tighten the screw on the sliding door

Sliding doors usually have a tight-slack regulatory mechanism. The settings are usually the installation of screw-couplers at the bottom of the door. The more to the right you rotate the screws (according to clockwise direction), then the door motion will increasingly slack. Conversely, the more you turn the screws to the left, it will make the door more tight and heavy when shifted.

  • Use lubricant

In addition to the railing section, the other part that is often choked up is the door lock. Spray the lubricant on the door lock. After checking the door lock, spray also the lubricant on the top and bottom rails of the screen door for easy shifting. Lubrication is necessary for rail conditions to avoid wear and tear. Thus, if the door movement jams or produces friction, it is almost certain that the rail lubrication starts to dry out due to overuse and also non-routine maintenance.

  • Rubber condition on sliding screen door

Rubber on the sliding door serves to prevent water or heat entering the door rail. In addition to lubrication, rubber conditions can also affect the condition of the rails. Especially because of weather factors (heat and rain) that in the long term can make rubber conditions brittle and torn. For prevention, avoid opening doors for long periods of time. This can make the dust settle on the sliding rubber door.
