Tile flooring definition is a type of floor made of fine clay. Tile flooring has a wide selection of motifs, colors, and sizes. Many homeowners are now looking for tile flooring with a plain style likes porcelain tiles to create a minimalist-modern impression. But there are also customers who are interested in using patterned tiles like mosaic tiles. There is also tile flooring of natural stone that gives a natural impression. There are two types of tiles available today: glazing and porcelain (homogeneous tile). The process of making glazing ceramics begins by mixing the clay material with kaolin then burned at a temperature of 10000 Celsius. The resulting tile is not easily destroyed when immersed in water. After that, the coating is done by printing on the surface of the tile.

While, porcelain tiles start from grinding raw materials in the form of a mixture of feldspar, quartz sand, and clay. The mixtures of these ingredients are then dried so that they become very fine granules which are then pressed into raw tile-shaped molds. After that, the molds are burned at a temperature of 1250ยบ C. In the final stages, the tile molds can be cut to size or polished before proceeding to the cutting process. This final process causes two types of porcelain tiles, ie tiles with rough surfaces (because it is not polished) and tiles with smooth/glossy surfaces. The process of polishing is an expensive process. Therefore, porcelain tiles have a price of 2 to 8 times more expensive than the glazing tiles. To reduce production costs, manufacturers also innovate to create a combined product by applying a layer of glazing on a tile that is not polished with the aim that it has a slippery surface. Products produced from this combined technique are specially made so that consumers can still use porcelain floor but with a more affordable price.
